The group, returning to the tower, killed the lamia and began investigating. They discovered the 'merchant' - Jainos - who was actually a sorcerer looking for a family heirloom that the Rule of the Seventh Arm had stolen from his family long ago. The two groups decided to join up.
A magical teleporter led into the lower caverns, but needed the treasurer's medallion to open. The group returned to Cofston to acquire it, whilst Jainos kept a low profile here.

The treasurer proved amenable to Cassie's diplomatic skills; the party restocked on supplies.

The magical teleporter was trapped and difficult to operate, but by a lot of trial and error, finally the party found themselves transported to the lower caverns.
