The lower caverns proved perilous. The pewter post the medallion needed to activate the teleporter back was missing...
A broken statue - probably a golem of some sort - had been destroyed by Duergar.
The bridge across the underground river in a great cavern was broken. Although most of the party descended easily enough, Lukas demonstrated the quickest (and most painful) way of descending. On the other side, Jainos used a levitate spell to save Lukas the pain next time!
The portal to the inner sanctum was overcome by a touch of the disk - not after some spells and effort had been expended. There, they found a Vrock waiting for them. The group eventually defeated it, but were terribly wounded by the end of it. To make things worse, it had sundered Lukas' wand of cure wounds! The party now had to find the pewter pillar to get out... they determined that it must be back in the great cavern.
A Phantom Fungus attacked them as they recrossed the cavern. It was slain by Cassie's first fireball, but they didn't know that and continued to attack the corpse for several rounds.
The pillar was found, guarded by a Roper. It hurt them (especially Karena) terribly, but it was defeated in the end.
