    Ian Richards on OP

    Ian Richards (Wizards OP) posted:
Just to give you all a little insight on DDM here at WotC. We (I mean 3 members of R&D and myself) meet every other week and discuss these things {organized play issues}. To say we're constantly focused on these and other issues would be an understatement. Adding to that I have Guy {Fullerton} willing to take me outside and beat the living Half-Orcs out of me if he feels we're wrong as well. We're very serious and focused on making this a fun, engaging and evolving environment. In the end we all win if we succeed

Stephen Schubert on War of the Dragon Queen Rarity

    Stephen Schubert (Wizards R&D):
If I were to comment on this, I'd say you guys have nothing to worry about. We mentioned at Gen Con that if we did Huges again, we'd do distribution differently. That hasn't changed. or did change. or something. It's different. How different? Can't say just yet. maybe next week, maybe April. You'll have plenty of time to make an informed decision. But if I weren't to comment on this, I'd say:

    - - - - - RPG Boards Business (link)
    - - - - - D&D Miniatures General (now in existing D&D lineup)
    - - - - - -"Guy’s Rulings"
    - - - - - Tournaments
    - - - - - Warband Critique
    - - - - - Painting & Modeling (now in existing D&D lineup)
    - - - - - D&D Minis Tradehouse (link)

I tried to take into account everyone's feedback about what they did and didnt want to see in the way of new forums and hope you find this is a reasonable compromise. If you think I hsve failed to take into consideration something crucial to the forums happiness, please feel fre to drop me a line at boards@wizards.com

    Happy posting!

    OP rules updated

LCS reports on maxminis that the OP rules have been updated.
    http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dci/doccenter/home

    The big changes he noticed:
    1) Set-up initiative allows the winner to choose who sets up first
    2) The Cave of Pain scenario does not include the Assault rules
    3) Epic Assault points are explicitly stated as 25 points
    4) Drow Outpost added to legal maps

Drow Outpost map to be Tournament legal

Jason Bulmahn (Managing Editor of Dragon) has confirmed that the Drow Outpost map was accidentally left off the draft floor rules; it will be legal in OP.

    Broken Demongate map problems

Stephen Schubert has posted the errors with the Starter set version of the Broken Demongate map:

One of the start areas is mislabeled Victory.

And the exits are on the wrong side. (A<>B)

A replacement map should be on its way to prerelease locations, and we're trying to also get it into the league kits for a month or two, and up online.

It's easy enough to fix on your own map, either with a sharpie or a removable label, but the map doesn't really work if side B doesn't get more than 6 squares to start in. It still works if you don't swap the exits, but then routing becomes much more deadly, since you'll rout through the enemy.

Those labels don't effect the Quick Start game.

The Broken Demongate has a literal accuracy to the name - the version that comes with the starters is defective somehow. No indication as to the nature of the defect, yet ...

    War Drums tidbits

There's a little teaser about minis that might be in War Drums on the Wizards site, in the Design Interview for "The Red Hand of Doom": http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ps/20060210a

In the interview, James Jacobs writes: "As for War Drums; several of the minis in this set were selected specifically from monsters we used in the adventure but didn't yet have corresponding miniatures; in a way, Rich and I got to influence the direction of the monster choices for this set. I can't wait to see how some of them turn out..."

And Rich Redman writes: "Some of the adversaries you may see as miniatures include the Doom Fist monk, the Blood Ghost berserker, the Kulkor Zhul sorcerer, and the hobgoblin warpriest."

New Rulebook will be available before release

    From Stephen Schubert, RPG/Minis R&D:
Our intention is to release the rulebook online, prior to the wardrums pre/release, and prior to Winter Fantasy.

The online rulebook might contain some updates beyond the printed version, including the new wording of smoke terrain (the rulebook went to print before the smoke rule was hammered out).

As there are changes to some of the rules, it behooves us to help out TO's by providing the rules ahead of time, and introducing those changes, so that TO's and judges can more quickly handle questions that might occur at the prerelease events.
