    Warband updates

There have been a bunch of new warbands submitted - thanks so much for taking the time!

However, as this page was being swamped by notices of new warbands, I've moved all new update notices for them over to the Strategy News page. New tournament reports and other articles will be reported on both pages from now on.

    Underdark - Hamatula

Another catalogue tidbit from Kilamanjaro: "I'll let you all know that Hellspike Prison says it's meant to work with the Underdark expansion and it features a Hamatula devil on the cover, could be a hint that we'll be getting a Hamatula in that set."

    Warband Tracker

Brimulk has sent me this Warband Tracker spreadsheet (Excel). He says of it:

I have been working on a very basic spreadsheet that players could use for tracking skirmish data. It is pretty raw, but has most of the fields I found useful when playing the skirmish game.

Let me know if you'd like to see anything added or changed to it. Like I said, it is raw and doesn't have any coding to it, but I may work on creating drop downboxes and such in a later version. For now, it is just designed as a template to handwrite or type skirmish warband information in.

Want to know how the designers and developers at Wizards and Paizo went at their own pre-release tournament? Find out on this thread on the Wizards boards.

You've got Rob Heinsoo, Andy "Can't Roll to Save His Life" Collins, Mike McArtor, Jason Buhlmann and Jesse Decker popping in to share their experiences.

    Great stuff.

    RPGA Rewards

I got my RPGA DM Rewards yesterday. They've changed around the point structure some, as follows:

20 points: Plastic spell template (10' Flame strike and Glitterdust)
20 points and every extra 20 points: Promotional DDM (GMR3: Mad Slasher alternative paint)
60 points and every extra 60 points: A full set of 10 D&D Campaign cards
80 points and every extra 80 points: D&D Miniatures booster pack.

As I've only just started DMing RPGA games, I only got the template and the mad slasher - squashed. Not to worry, though. I'm very happy to have them.

The alternative paint Mad Slasher has green body and legs with red tips.

    An update from Merric

    G'day, everyone!

You may have noticed that this site hasn't been updated as frequently as it has been. This is primarily due to the fact that I've been very busy over the past few weeks with work-related activities.

I've got a nice break for Easter coming up, so I'm hoping to fix up the various parts of the site so that they're all up to date, especially the Deathknell spoiler list.

I'm also hoping to add a warband and tourney report database that allows you to easily submit reports, strategy articles and warband lists, though I'd appreciate any feedback as to whether you want such options on the site. The previous version of me just posting decklists that were sent to me was proving problematical, especially with other demands on my time and the editing that was required of those lists!

I hope that those of you who got to the Deathknell prerelease events had a great time - I haven't had a game of D&D Miniatures in months, though I use the miniatures in my regular D&D RPG campaigns. I don't even know if there was a DDM prerelease in Australia...

    Best wishes to you all,
    Merric

Deathknell nonpreview XIII - Done Deal

Poor Rob. With the early release of packs in Korea and Japan, the spoiler lists being compiled, and the pictures also available, all he can give us are his thoughts on the design of the Voice of Battle, Valorous Prince and Thaskor.

Pity that they're rather important, then, isn't it? Hearing about the design process and the potential effects on the figures the game are some of the best articles for me. Rob, pay attention! More design notes, please! Oh, and tell us tales of playtesting triumphs (or disasters)! :-)

Nicely formatted spoiler list for Deathknell

I've uploaded a nicely formatted spoiler page; it's still incomplete, especially in the descriptions of spells and special abilities, but it should give you an idea of what's coming up.

    Deathknell preview XII

The twelfth Deathknell preview has been posted: Natural Fury. Only one miniature, the Greenfang Druid, but a lot of interesting gameplay notes about it. One of the best of the previews, to my mind.

    More details on Deathknell figures

Thanks very much to Makamaka for posting this:
    • Rask is not a commander.
    • The Dwarven Caver's commander effect gives orcs -8 to morale saves. Against other bands he gives a +1 attack.
    • Greenfang Druid can command nearly any animal or magic beast. I'm guessing the commander effect is animal and magic beast followers gain regeneration 5.
    • Mummy Lord: Powerful undead beater who can bludgeon the enemy to death or screw him up with spells
    • Couatl: has snake's swiftness and a commander effect that gives all followers 10 damage resist from ANY energy type.
    • Renegade Warlock: eldritch blast is 10 damage, unlimited usages, highly mobile
    • Skullclan hunter: will be a top figure in LG armies. Once the Gold dragon's breath weapon is used, these guys will out damage the dragon! The hunters have an awesome sneak attack in addition to their fine straight attack ability.
    • Gold dragon: they tout high mobility.

Rob Heinsoo explains the change in rarity scheme!

I've just added a major post by Rob Heinsoo to my designer posts page. In it, he explains why the rarity scheme has changed in Deathknell.

Deathknell has 24 rares, 24 uncommons and 12 commons. It remains at 1 rare, 3 uncommons and 4 commons in each booster.

    Deathknell wolves

    From Jai:
The Timber wolf is not the same stats as the Harbinger Wolf. Just same cost. And there is another ability out there that makes mention of "with Wolf in the name" that leads me to believe that Greycloak only gets one choice ...
