The fifth set, Aberrations, contains both Starter Sets andBooster Packs. There are 60 miniatures in the set. It is due to bereleased in October 2004.D&D Miniatures Starter Set
The Starter Setprovides all the starting materials a player needs to become familiarwith Dungeon & Dragons miniatures. This Starter Setreplaces the version released in 2003. It contains 8 new terrain tiles,and as the rules have been revamped to better facilitate multi-playergames, it also contains an updated rulebook. Like the figures in thecorresponding Aberrations Booster Pack, the figures in the Starter Setwill be chosen directly from key D&D titles, including CompleteDivine, Monster Manual III, Serpent Kingdoms, the new EberronCampaign Setting, and the first Eberron adventure, Shadowsof the Last War.

- 12 randomized pre-painted plastic miniatures with statcards (1 rare, 3 uncommon, 8 common)
- Rare, common, and uncommon miniatures
- A complete basic rulebook, updated for 2004
- A 20-sided dice
- A checklist for the Aberrations set
- Battle grid mapsheet and new terrain tiles
- Damage Counters

The AberrationsBooster Pack contains a randomized selection of figuresdesigned to expand any collection of Dungeon & Dragonsminiatures. Like the figures in the corresponding Starter Set, thefigures in the Aberrations set will be chosen directly from key D&Dtitles, including Complete Divine, Monster Manual III, SerpentKingdoms, the new Eberron Campaign Setting, and thefirst Eberron adventure, Shadows of the Last War.

General Notes
Starters: Although it was hoped that every starterof Aberrations would contain a commander, Rob Heinsoo has confirmedthat the design team's plans in that area were not successful: theremay be starters without commanders.
Rulebook: The Aberrations set contains thenew rulebook, although a version will also be available on the Wizardswebsite and updated with any errata or clarifications that are made.
Cases: There are 12 boosters in a (booster) case of Aberrations, and 6 starters in a (starter) case.
Medium Silver Dragon: The promotional Medium SilverDragon figure () will not appear in Aberrations - thoughit will appear in a future set.
New Rulebook: The Aberrations rulebook maybe downloaded from the Wizards miniature .
New Abilities: This set sees the removal of Difficultas a creature ability (disadvantage). Instead, the new abilities of Wildand Feast appear.
Designer Posts
Rob Heinsoo: Aberrations is a new starterset anddesigned to be played at 100 points out of of the box.But we did learn some things from Harbinger, and I cantell you that part of the aim was to make creatures that could be athome in both 100 and 200 point games. Most of the 'wusses' aren't quiteas wussy.
Mike Donais: Aberrations will have entry packsandboosters. Aberrations will be designed for better limited play as wellas 100 and 200 point constructed play. I think it is our best set forlimited play so far.
The rulebook will be updated. It is clearer and itincludes the errata and clarifies some frequently asked questions. Itis cleaned up a lot.
We made 8 new terrain tiles that are roughly equivalent inpower level to the old ones and hopefully look cooler. My plan is toallow both the old and the new terrain tiles in tournaments. We re-didthe stat cards, they look good now.
Distribution Notes
As with other sets, there arethree uncommon slots and four common slots. (Thanks to Patrick Lynchfor this information.) Cases are seeded with 3 of each common figure,and at least 1 of each uncommon figure.
